Liposuction – Getting the Most Out of Your Plastic Surgery
[ad_1]
If you suffer from awkward pouches of flabbage or a spare tire that just won’t quite, liposuction may be the answer. Liposuction is a plastic surgery operation that removes subcutaneous fat from targeted areas, leaving you a new, skinny you.
Are You A Good Candidate For Liposuction?
The first step to getting rid of the flab is to decide if you are a good candidate. Fat removal surgery isn’t just a quick and easy diet plan. This operation works on the areas that dieting and exercise just won’t get rid of.
Many of us try our best dieting and working out, only to find that little bits of our previous chubby selves remain here and there. No matter how you work it, you still end up with these leftovers. If this sounds like you, you are the perfect candidate for liposuction.
Some folks find that they have flab in weird areas like their necks, arms, ankles, calves and thighs. This gives the body an awkward shape all over, and it is unsightly. The biggest target area for liposuction is the belly. Fat accumulates easily around the abdomen as you get older, but doesn’t come off so easily. Fat removal surgery is the perfect way to contour your body.
The Key to Making Your Surgery Effective
You go in, get some anesthesia, the doctor pokes around, and finally…. You’re a new you! Now, life gets back to normal. Actually, there are lots of cases where people put the weight back on, and end up going back repeatedly. This costs money and is a major headache. Why not get the most out of your liposuction the first time?
It could take up to several months to recovery fully. Your doctor will give you special garments to wear, which will help the healing process. If these garments aren’t fitted just right, you may have trouble with the incisions healing correctly, and it will mean more doctor visits.
For the first few days, there will be drainage tubes. During recovery, the pain isn’t bad, but there is often some bruising and swelling which can be uncomfortable. After a couple of weeks, the incision scars harden. All of this is natural, so be patient until your body gets back into shape.
Your plastic surgeon will advise you on what to do, and the key is to follow their advice. Get your body healing right, and your liposuction will be a success.
Another important thing is to eat well and get exercise. At first, you will have to take it easy, and your doctor may ask you to not move around much. But, you’ll want to transition into a healthy lifestyle so that you can take care of your new body. Liposuction doesn’t mean that you can eat anything you want now! Not unless you want to flab to make a comeback.
Liposuction isn’t a quick and easy diet plan, but it is a wonderful way to contour your body. Plastic surgery offers you a great way to get the body you want. Let liposuction fight the flab and make you proud of your body again.

White Rice Predisposes to Diabetes But Brown Rice Helps Protect Against It
[ad_1]
Having brown rice and wholemeal bread in diet reduce the risk of diabetes, a new study indicated. It was found that replacing white rice with brown rice can cut down the risk of diabetes by 36%.
Brown rice prevents Diabetes
The researchers points out that due to the differences in processing method and nutrient content, brown and white rice may have dissimilar effects on the risk of type 2 diabetes. It has been established that white rice can cause rise in blood sugar level, whereas brown rice, releases sugars and energy slowly.
To determine the association between type of rice intake and diabetes risk, the investigators utilized data from 3 large prospective cohort studies, all of which included information about diet. In such type of study a group of people are followed over a period of time and collection of data (in this case diet and lifestyle) would be useful in looking at the risk factors that might be linked with the occurrence of certain conditions.
However, it can not prove cause and effect relation. This study examined nearly 40,000 men and 157,000 women for their diet and life style and its effect on health.
It was a questionnaire based study, in which individuals were provided with the food frequency questionnaire forms and followed up to see whether they developed diabetes or not. From all participants, 10,507 developed diabetes during 14 to 22 years of follow up, suggesting absolute risk of over 5%.
It was also found that people who ate more than two servings a week of brown rice had an 11% lower risk than those who ate less than one serving a month. The researchers guess that replacing 50 grams of white rice a day with brown rice or whole grains would result in a 16% or 36% lower risk of type 2 diabetes, respectively.
This shows regular consumption of white rice is linked higher risk of diabetes, whereas brown rice with a lower risk. It should be kept in mind that this study has not proved cause and effect relation. But still, people should include more whole grains and brown rice in their diet, rather than refined carbohydrates. This research calls onto people to change their dietary habits.
In Asian countries when rice is the staple diet, people generally prefer to eat white rice over brown due to appearance & trends. Whereas in the western countries the amount of Rice consumed is insignificant to cause a major change in their diet & fitness.

That’s an awesome feeling to be on the verge of making a difference for your health, but do you know what to do to get the best results from your efforts. The ultimate lose belly fat workout requires you to select a few different cardio exercises as well as a few strength exercises and combine them in circuits. You can use any exercises you like, but consider some on the following lists to get you started.
Cardio
* Step up and down on a step or bottom stair for a minute
* 30 jumping jacks
* Jog in place for a minute
* Raise knees and tap with opposite hand, rotating for a minute
Strength
* Crunches
* Full sit ups
* Various dumbbell moves
* Push ups
* Bench dips on a chair
There are many other exercises that can be used in both of these categories. You can find them easily by doing a search online for additional moves.
To complete the ultimate lose belly fat workout, simply pick one cardio move and several strength moves to form a circuit. Do one set of each exercise in the circuit with no pause in between. Total Knee Replacement: Advantages and Disadvantages
[ad_1]
Do you suffer from severe knee pain, stiffness and immobilization in your knee that affect your ability to do things? Does the knee pain remains painful despite taking physiotherapy, steroid injections, doing exercise, and using walking supports? Well, it sounds you are a candidate for total knee replacement surgery.
There are several medical conditions that may lead to the need of knee replacement surgery, and arthritis is the most common among them. Genetics, developmental abnormalities, some form of injury and obesity are the other contributing factors.
Patients who have tried and failed the non-surgical means to get respite from knee pain such as weight loss, lifestyle modifications, anti-inflammatory medicines or cortisone injections, all to no avail, can greatly benefit from knee replacement surgery.
Overview
Also known as knee arthroplasty, this surgical procedure is performed to replace the severely diseased or damaged surfaces of the arthritis knee with an artificial metal or plastic part called ‘implant’ or ‘prosthesis’. These man-made (artificial) prosthetic devices are shaped to allow continued motion of the knee.
There are two main types of surgeries for replacing the damaged knee – Unicondylar / Partial Knee Replacement (UKR/PKR) and Total Knee Replacement (TKR).
The latest statistics presented this year at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) show that more than 4.5 million people in the United States are living with a total knee replacement. By some estimates, approximately 130,000 replacement surgeries are carried out annually in the United States.
Surgical Overview
Also called total knee arthroplasty, total knee replacement is an ideal option for people with severe destruction of the joint of the knee, causing significant pain, stiffness and impaired function of the knee.
It is a major yet highly successful surgical procedure which involves replacement of all three compartments of the knee- the medial (inside of the knee), the lateral (outside of the knee) and the patellofemoral (the front of the knee).
In this surgery, bone surfaces of the knee and cartilage that have been damaged by arthritis are removed and replaced with artificial surfaces (implants) made of metallic and plastic materials that function similar to a healthy knee.
Advantages
A successful total knee replacement offers tremendous benefits and can vastly enhance the quality of your life.
The problems of instability, disability and restricted mobility of the knee are completely alleviated through this surgery.
The surgery provides the patient with a considerable reduction or even elimination of pain. Following the surgery, the patients can largely restore range of motion of the knee.
The pain-free knee allows patients to retain a wide range of daily activities, including climbing stairs, shopping and getting in and out of chairs, thus enabling them to lead a normal life
The patient will experience improved muscle strength and improved alignment of deformed joints following the surgery.
Artificial knee may last for a long time. About 95% of knee replacements last 15 years or longer, thanks to the latest technologies.
Disadvantages
Blood clots in the legs can develop, which can travel to the lungs (pulmonary embolism) that can further cause shortness of breath, chest pain, and even shock.
Other risks of total knee replacement include urinary tract infection, nerve damage, and blood vessel injury.
Nausea and vomiting, swelling, chronic knee pain and stiffness, and bleeding into the joint of the knee are some complications one can experience following the surgery.
Furthermore, infection of the knee may occur in some cases, requiring hospital admission and re-operation.
One of the biggest disadvantages of total knee replacement is its cost. Getting total knee replacement may make you dig deep into your pockets. The cost of the surgery, however, varies depending on the surgeon’s experience and skill, the type of implant, the extent of the surgery, the hospital, medications, special tests and your insurance coverage.
